Re: Atheist Q/A (because everyone else has one)

This is my proof for God's existence. It is from my Bible Doctrines book from school, and I will give it to you in parts because it is kind of long. "To the one who says, 'Prove that there is a God,' we can reply, 'Prove that there is no God.' To prove that there is no God, one would have to go...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

You are exactly right, Kait! I haven't answered that one yet because I would have posted a whole bible study probably. So, no, Jesus did not break the Sabbath, even in his death. -- Tue Aug 14, 2012 7:19 am -- Do you believe Revelation has yet to be fulfilled? Or do you believe that most of what Joh...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say about that verse. It does not mean a thing to me. Why did you ask me about it? I'm mostly wondering how you would reconcile the idea of progressive light with this verse that says the faith is delivered once for all. Ayn Rand, you misunderstood the idea of prog...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

Do you think the early church was in error for meeting on the first day of the week? They were not in error because they kept the Sabbath. They met on the first day sometimes, so what? They could have met on the four day of the week, it doesn't matter to me. They kept the Sabbath though as Saturday...

Re: Atheist Q/A (because everyone else has one)

So if you do not believe in God at all, why do you listen to Odyssey?
Also, what is your evidence that the Bible is a false, uninspired book and that God is made up?

Re: Messianic Q&A

What kind of things do Messianics do on the Sabbath? I am a Seventh-day Adventist so I keep it as well. I was wandering if they are more like us where the day is devoted to G-d but you can do things like take a walk or do work if it can bring someone to G-d or are you guys more othodox as in you fol...

Re: Aliens

I believe that there are other planets out there that are inhabited by other creatures. I think that the earth is the only one that has fallen and that the other ones are still perfect. I know it sounds wierd, but it is what I believe from studying the Bible and reading what theologists say on the s...

Re: Theist (but not a "Christian") Q & A!

You sound similar to a Jew. What are the differences between Theists and Jews? A user from the Soda Shop message boards asked me to ask you what you think of C.S. Lewis' Trilemma? I will post it below in case you are unfimiliar with it. This is from a talk on BBC radio. "I am trying here to pre...

Aliens

Do you believe that there is other life besides what is on earth? Could another planet be inhabited? What do you think as a Christian?

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

Do Seventh-day Adventist not celebrate Easter and Christmas then? If God is showing through the new light the proper reading of the Bible what is the need for a newer light? i.e how did the new light of the Reformation get it wrong leading to the need for the new light of Anglicanism? And what woul...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

Ayn Rand, you are really making me think with your questions. Constitine brought in things such as "changing" the Sabbath to Sunday so the Sun worshippers would feel more at home and would join the Christians, putting Christian events such as Christ's birth and reserrection to pagan feasts...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

No, I do not believe Ellen White contradicted the Bible ever. I think the straying started in A.D. 312 when Constitine adopted Christianity. He caused many pagan rituals and beliefs to come into the church. Obviously, there are many writings from the early church before the year 312. Many years have...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

The Adventist movement has been compared to a "back to the basics" kind of thing: Going back to the doctrines of the early church. As for Ellen white being needed, she said herself that she would not be needed if we read our Bibles closely enough and sought God with all of our hearts. Ever...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

With the Nicene Creed, I think that Adventists would be perfectly fine with it. I'm guessing that you are directing my attention to the word catholic. What does catholic mean? I looked it up in the diccionary and it means universal, one, whole. That phrase now says "I believe in one, holy, univ...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

No, her teachings are not equal with the Bible. The Bible is above all else and is the final word on all doctrine. There have been others like her. The one that comes to mind is William Foy who was another early Adventist. No, final judgment is on Judgment Day when Christ returns. I looked at the cr...

Re: Seventh-day Adventist Q&A

Wow! Lots of questions! What can you tell me about Ellen White and how the Seventh Day Adventist view her? How often do you take communion? And is it only a symbol or more? Can you explain the doctrine of Investigative judgment? Can you talk about your holistic approach to living especially as it re...

Does anyone on this board like literature? I LOVE literature! I especially like Leo Tolstoy, William Wordsworth, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, John Donn, etc. I love them all basically!
