Darcie is correct. I'm certain that the show will be completely forgotten shortly after it goes off the air; I've seen it on occasion, and while it has its moments, there are certain things the writers consider unimportant, among them coherent plotlines, believable dialogue, and consistency.

I have the nagging suspicion that this isn't the first time I've commented on this "mockumentary" here, but really, this is just what we need: an old, grumpy, conservative white guy, better known as a game show host than as a minor figure the Nixon White House, trying to pass himself off a...

In brief, privatio boni , which means "privation of good," is the contention that evil does not exist per se , but is, rather, the name we give to the absence of good. Augustine and others were strongly influenced by the Neoplatonic thought of the day; church practice took on a distinctly ...

It should be impossible for a Christian to believe that God is pitted against science, for a proper understanding of both (not that we will every fully grasp either) would have the two in harmony, but to address the part of the anecdote that actually interests me... It seems unlikely, to me, that an...

Unusually enough, I did have the opportunity to see The Wind That Shakes the Barley though it was not in the theatre. I was pleasantly suprised with the film. There's plenty of historical violence (read: The Patriot, Saving Private Ryan , etc) which lends itself to a more convincing realism. If any...

On the Waterfront . One advantage to having watched so few films growing up is that when I do watch something these days, it's usually good. There are plenty of universally-acclaimed classics left for me to watch. Incidentally, while I don't watch many recent releases, has anyone seen The Wind that...

I'll only speak for myself here, but I realize that you were joking. That doesn't change the fact that it's highly distasteful.

If you were trying to distance yourself from your remarks, you didn't do a very good job of it. Why is it that, with some, a belief in the sanctity and dignity of every life begins with conception and ends with birth?

To the last two -- do you realize what you're saying?

Hillary Clinton is a political foe, not the enemy. Suggesting that you want her dead -- even in jest -- is despicable. Have you no shame?

On the other hand, it's a bit glib about Sir Edmund Hillary's death, and a subject line designed to sound as if it's announcing the death of a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate is no laughing matter, either.

Everyone does get how this works, right? There are 25 possible numbers -- and five colors and five houses. There are five numbers of each color, and one number from each color in each house. So, say you chose 13, which is a red number. There are five red numbers: 2, 5, 13, 15 and 20. There are also ...

John Coleman's an eccentric guy. Sometimes credited as the founder of The Weather Channel (he came up with the idea for an all-weather channel and was involved with it very briefly, forced out within a year), he's been vocal in his dismissal of the science behind global climate change of late. He ha...

Everyone who's anyone knows Huckabee is a FAR better choice :D . Well, if ignorant populism, corruption, incompetence, class warfare, and sectarianism are your thing, then sure. But his supporters are "claiming Isaiah 54" for him, so that makes everything all right. So, basically, he's bi...

Books aren't going to die out, thankfully, but I'd love to see this sort of technology advance. The key here is that the screen is not backlit, so it can be read in direct sunlight, unlike a computer screen, and there is no glare or, presumably, much eyestrain. Also, while 200 books can fit on the d...

Actually, Huckabee has gone from a more or less reasonable view on immigration to a hard-core restrictionist overnight, since candidates with no principles are quite capable of pandering. (See also his Damascus Road experience that made him an overnight apostle of the economically idiotic FairTax, o...

I'd let them use the Bible, since it wouldn't be very effective. All you have to go on here is tradition. I've heard two or three over the years from late Jewish tradition, and believe that Namaah is the most commonly cited. I've heard another one cited a few times, and can't recall it at present.
