Re: What is the last movie you saw?

Unstoppable by Kirk Cameron. It was actually quite disappointing. We went in with high expectations, and it turned out to be a very low-produced hour-long talk from Kirk in his living room. The music was good, and there was one funny scene, but that was about all that redeemed it for me. He didn't ...

Re: 732: Repent After Me

I totally agree about the chemistry between Barrett and Olivia. I like them together way more than I ever liked Barrett and Priscilla. The scene where Olivia pulls Barrett aside to tell him that she saw him erase a record from the file was amazing. Kelly Stables nailed the emotions in Olivia's voice...

Re: The Bible and Pagan Mythology

@ Margaret Thatcher: I just memorized this passage today for the Bible Bee, and I thought it applied very well to this situation: Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insin...

Re: The Bible and Pagan Mythology

Why say shellfish are unclean? Or that you must have four tassels on your cloak? Or that it's wrong to shave the edges of your beard? You really can't pick and choose. Either you say that they're all done away with, you see some spiritual meaning in them for us today, or you take all of them as appl...

Well, he co-authored many of the Left Behind kids' series, and he has a two-hour show on weekdays on Moody Radio called Chris Fabry Live.

Re: Red Rock Mysteries

The series was written by Jerry Jenkins and Chris Fabry, who are very good teen fiction authors, imo. From what I remember, the mysteries were very original and engaging.

Re: Red Rock Mysteries

I read the first 5 or so when I was in my tweens. I remember thoroughly enjoying them. I would have read the whole series, but I think the library didn't have #6, or something, so I couldn't. I think the creators of DGL made an audio drama of the first couple books, if I remember correctly.

@Christian A. Paul does not tell us it's fine to eat meat leftover from a sacrifice. He says we can purchase meat at the market or eat at a Gentiles meal without fear of where the meat comes from but if we are told specifically that the meat is from an idol then we should abstain. "But if anyo...

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

Insidious: Chapter 2, for my birthday. Our theater had it as a double-feature with Insidious. It was an incredible movie. It answered questions I didn't even know I had about the original. The combination of time-travel, mystery, and horror makes an excellent movie, in my book. \:D/

Re: The Bible and Pagan Mythology

after all the Apostles in Acts gave a list of physical acts Christians were to refrain from. Correction: Not all Christians were to abstain from sacrifice to idols, but the particular Christians that letter was written to. To eat meat sacrificed to idols was in many cases to cause a Gentile brother...

<t>I remember very little about the day, as I was only nearly six-years-old. But I do remember being intrigued because of how much the TV was on, because, as Shen said, that was rare in our house. I knew it was something big and bad, but I don't think I really comprehended the gravity of the situati...

I feel bad for all the kids whose parents are in ministry who just can't afford that price. Talk about alienating your fanbase! Thank you. I'm glad someone else is thinking about that. It's not even really just PKs, though. My dad makes fairly good money, but because he's not nearly as interested i...

Re: Lost souls? More like lost church.

Yeah...I would disagree about tithing being a mandatory thing. In fact, Galatians 3 and 2 Corinthians 9, among other passages, seem to indicate that the 10% tithe is no longer binding to New Testament Christians. Instead, we are to give as we felt led by God, cheerfully and without feeling compelled...
