Tower of Babel

Recently, I read Tower of Babel for the first time this question really stood out to me: "Who is the author of confusion?" Based off the narrative of the Tower of Babel, one might say it is God. “The Lord said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then n...

Re: Why are we so quick to NOT believe?

I definitely think that there is something to experiential/ emotional truth. I also think that discernment is key. Personally, God speaks to me most through dreams and visions. However, that does NOT mean that every dream I have is some revelation from God, sometimes I just have a dream. The same go...

Re: God v. Hitler

God allowed it because He is just to condemn wickedness and acts to protect His people from it. He acts to protect people from "Evil" by commiting the "evil" himself? That is incredibly logical... Also I would say that God does more than allow, if he has a hand in the lives of i...

God v. Hitler

Being a NT scholar, I've not spent nearly as much time with the OT as I should. Since coming to this realization I have gone into academic study mode of reading the book. This lead me to reading the Noah story for the first time in years. This study raised a few flags. Is God any better than Hitler?...

Re: Lost souls? More like lost church.

@Jonny, I see your point, and I will have to think about it more. As someone who grew up in the pastor's house and someone who often has a position of leadership with in congregations, the people who don't do anything but show up tick me off when I work my tail off and put other things on hold in or...

Re: Lost souls? More like lost church.

If this were to happen, I would commend the church leaders who had the guts to "kick out" the wallflower Christians. Christ has not called his people to be lukewarm which I'm afraid is the normal spirit of churches in America. Less than half of the body is on fire and willing to put any ef...

Re: What books are you reading?

I made the move from fun summer reading to class required reading. Currently I am making my way through Bruce's Commentary on the Gospel of John, Blomberg's "the Historical Reliability of the Gospel of John" D.A. Carson's commentary on John and González's "The Story of Christianity vo...
