A guy sounding like Whit wants me to buy Ice Cream....the circle is now complete.

Re: 661: When You’re Right, You’re Right

I'm another minority type here, I loved this episode. The edited Birthday card goes right up there with the "What is He Saying? Contest" for my favorite audio gag in the show's history. It doesn't hurt that I now have the image of Whit having a CD of Barry White laying around the Kids' Rad...

Wait, it just dawned on me -- the kid's name is Camilla Parker?!??

Those AIO people sure like their British names.

Re: 655 The Inspiration Station 1

Andre's Whit is quite amusing - it's kind of like if Hal Smith was a bit younger and kept a lot of the loopiness of the first few years. He's also got that "smile" that Hal brought to the character. I loved Paul, but this reminds me of the other side of Whit. There are other episodes I'm l...

Re: similarities

Actually yes, plagiarism isn't a legal definition so much as it is a general one. It means to copy or heavily derive one's work from another without credit. If you copy or derive from a public domain film, it's still plagiarism even if there are no legal repercussions. That said, I love MST3k. I've ...

Re: Was Whit easier to outrage in the older days?

Funny how things change. 10 years ago the question was "Is Whit too gruff and mean these days?" Mr. Hoobler even suggested it way back when: http://www.aiohq.com/articles/fandom.htm I do remember an early episode where kids were mopey and whiny around Whit's End. His suggestion? "Let'...

Re: Which Whit?

With Hal Smith, there was both the warmth and the feeling that Whit always wore a smile around the kids (and Connie, Tom, and Eugene much of the time), and he came off as just a little bemused. Paul Herlinger had the "warmth" part of Whit down in his voice, and I felt that the Novacomm ser...

That is very sad. Prayers go out to his family and the Odyssey crew, including his wife of 53 years (whom, if I remember, was dealing with some health issues).

I'm sure they'll run it just like a normal episode, however they will make the voice actors gargle with holy water first.

Re: The Pact

Time doesn't have to work in Odyssey, or if you want an explanation Odyssey exists outside of time. Exactly. Even the town sign warns that a wormhole has been spotted now and then at the edge of town. This temporal anomaly allows time moves much slower at times, speeds far ahead at others. It cause...

Re: Harry Potter

While I am very much a believer in "Children, Obey Your Parents," and "Honor Your Father and Mother" (for those still under their parents' authority), it's quite a stretch to get from whatever Harry Potter's magic is to that the Bible which says is antithetical to God's word. At ...

I give them a 5, they've got a good beat and you can dance to them.

Wait...they aren't a band? (looks for picture....)

Woah, they aren't a band. They're the Von Tropps singers with an accompanying orchestra.

So, what are you all expecting for the new episodes of AIO?? are you totally up for it?! \:D/ or are you afraid of what they might do..? :-k :anxious: I personally am a bit scared... I mean, everyone I've talk to loves the older episode better than the new. So I think to make the show work - or bet...

Re: Clever AIO Character Names

I'm still amused that they got away with a character called "Hassen Ben-Sober."

A critic named "Rosencrantz Guildenstern" was good enough, but hearing Earl Boen groan every time he had to say the name in "My Fair Bernard" was even funnier.

- Gifts for Madge and Guy. I love the humor in Airplane ("Don't Call Me Shirley"), and this came pretty close. - Top This. I'm a radio guy, so I love the callers calling about other stations, playing lousy music, and wanting to take the station hostage for 90+ hours. - Poor Loser. Eugene h...

Re: Harry Potter

Harry Potter had a surprising depth to it that you wouldn't have expected in the first few chapters of the book. You can tell Rowling was a teacher and watched a few children grow up during her tenure. Any kids book where the teachers are smarter than the kids, huge families save the world, and you ...

Yup, I really enjoy Spock's Beard and the reunited Transatlantic. I have some older CDs as well from Genesis (when Peter Gabriel was with them) and Yes. Currently, my favorites are Salem Hill (Neal Morse did a duet for their most recent studio album) and Porcupine Tree -- even if PT is a little dark...

Re: The worst AIO episode!

It's been awhile since I've heard all of them...but: - Eugene makes a robot Whit. Since this is Odyssey, he doesn't set out to destroy Whit's End and enslave humanity -- because that would have been a better plot than this strange way of equating Whit with God and the Commandments. - Dr. James Dobso...
