Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I finally finished the two seasons that are available.

I loved the musical, and the crossover episode with Lower Decks ! It's hardly your dad's intellectual Picard-level Star Trek ( Next Generation , not the s-tier Picard show), but they were so much fun.

I love Lower Decks, so seeing live-action ...

Re: 10 CD Collectors Edition

This set was basically my introduction to the radio program. While I might have heard some of the episodes when I was very young (something about driving to church on Wednesday nights, and sitting in the car to catch the end of the episode), I didn't really (have the ability to?) pay attention or ...

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I started the series, and actually forgot to return to it, mid-episode, probably episode 5. They tried so hard, and the actors do an adequate job for the writing they're given. The writing is still a little off. A super-well-connected-to-subordinates Captain Pike? And poor Spock's dialog and ...

Re: Uncharted

I enjoyed the movie. The plot holes are larger than the [spoilers] they see and [spoilers] with a helicopter but it was a fun romp.

Oh, I've heard all the broadcast episodes now! I reviewed them on the Reviews board. That's how I have as much to say about the Morrie and Suzu criminals as I do.

Re: Morrie and Suzu

Yeah, the 2010 thing is a bit of a stretch. That was when I stopped listening, and when the new voice of Whit came along. So what, generation 4 of AIO kids/characters? It's like Sherlock: throw out season 4 and it's the best show BBC ever produced. Or like how the Matrix is a good movie; it should ...

Re: Morrie and Suzu

I don't have the eloquence that others have. Morrie and Suzu are siblings who entered town and basically set up a bunch of other children (mostly Emily Jones) in a set of situations that build character at the expense of mental anguish and without safeties that their parents would have wanted ...

Re: What books are you reading?

"1632" by Eric Flint. Come to find out, this alternative history story is really just a ruse to get you to learn about the Thirty Years' War in Europe (1618-1648). It worked. One of my favorite arguments: Protestants versus Catholics, plus cannons! Oh, and the book was quite interesting. It adds a ...

Re: Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition

I remember the original "Age of Empires." I had a demo of it for my Windows 98 computer, and the one mission in the demo gave you two priests and you had to go "convert" units to join your side. The closest enemy was a small village, so you would have to use your priests to convert the villagers ...

It's not that deep. It was definitely geared towards the youngest possible audience in the scale of the whole possible audience of AIO. But on average, 2/5.

0020: Mike Makes Right

This episode broadcast on 2022-03-16
Episode summary
Billy Barton, the bully of Odyssey Elementary, gets into a fight with Mike Caldwell. When Mike wins, he becomes arrogant and lets stardom go to his head.
My thoughts

Mike Makes Right is an OK episode. Kids need to learn that you can't rest ...

Re: What books are you reading?

I just re-read "Starman Jones" by Robert Heinlein. It's one of his juvenile fiction stories, so it's more family-friendly than some of his works. It's also a fun space adventure.

Re: 019: Recollections

This is of course one of the best first episodes. And of course it's included in the list of first episodes to listen to, that "welcome to Odyssey" collection or similar. We learn about Mr. Whittaker's late wife. The direction of his life entered our storyline because of the personal tragedy.

Eh, I was OK with this one getting lost. It's not bad, just meh. I like unusual friendships, like Doc Brown and Marty McFly in Back to the Future or those guys in The Upside.
