Carman died?!

Carman was one of the few remnants of Evangelical pop culture that I would revisit every year or so and smile without fail. He was more my dad's generation than mine, but the inherited nostalgia was strong. He passed in 2021 after complications during surgery and I just found out today. :( This was ...

Re: WHY IS THIS PLACE SO DEAD!?

An Adventures in Odyssey-based community that consists only of adults is going to be either very serious or very dead. Haha, I love this summarization. But the way conservative Christian families handle Internet usage is different nowadays. A few years ago, it wasn't so uncommon to let kids explore...

I'm pretty sure that if you thought there was much to look at in bad company other than @Top making poop jokes, you'd probably be mistaken. :(

Re: Petition to Get Rid of the "Haunted House"!

I had no idea this was in City Hall when I first posted this since I was viewing it in a faction sub-forum, but as a piece of ToO history I absolutely approve resurrecting it and any moderating forces who dare to lock it will be sent a stern letter from my attorney-at-large I have vague memories of...

Re: My Beliefs are Wildly Different Now

KBT! Seeing your name and reading all of this makes me super happy. \:D/ It’s kind of a unique camaraderie, I guess - commonality with others whose paths brought them through (or from) the same 90s Evangelical culture that AIO was so correlated with. Maybe that's why so many have stayed active here....

Re: Turning Red

My wife and I both work with youth and young students. We watched it last night and openly wept. I haven't cried that hard at a Pixar movie since Inside Out. Time will tell, I think, how well it "ages," and if some of the cultural references will feel overly dated a decade from now ("...

PRIME VIDEO

I'm screaming at myself not be cynical, but 90% of what's shown here has the same video game-esque plastic texture that the Hobbit did, which makes me sad and bored. The Hobbit was so bad. :(

Re: Suggested Order for Star Wars films?

Personally I'm in favour of just trading out all six of the most recent "official canon" entries in favour of Rogue One. That was the only Star Wars film released during my lifetime that I've actually liked.
