If there's another 15 year long turn-around-time on this deal, I'm afraid I'll die of old age first.

Re: Celebrate the ToO by sharing what it means/has meant to you!

So, I guess I feel obliged to post something both nostalgic and significant, but I'm afraid I've been absent for so long that any reference to me on this forum these days are, in fact, directed towards the BBC Series and not the legacy ToO member. Oh how the (not so) mighty have fallen... >_> Anyway...

Why does it give me such joy to see Catspaw use the word "y'all?"
Because you're an awesome person, obviously! That was a special touch in honour of such a special American holiday.
Well, Yee-haw to that! \:D/

Re: Share Your Favorite Poem Here!

Awesome poems thus far! I recognized a few, but good to see some new things being posted as well. :) Here's one I like, called Kurunthokai - the translation is more poetic, but it comes from Sanskrit base and is a back and forth exchange between two young people in love: He Says What could be my mot...

If you were at the Xcel Center, then yes you were looking at the Cathedral. edit--I actually had to look at Dan's pic twice b/c I wasn't sure who was him at first glance. Looks like he should be in the group. Nice photo, Jonathan! I never played at the Cathedral, but back in the homeschool band day...

Re: Throwback Thursday ... ToO Style

I'm actually somewhat elated that my second post appeared in this delightful thread . Post by Sherlock » 28 May 2006 05:21 am I have facts for those who think and arguments for those who reason. To organize my discussion, I suggest that we take one step back in the causal chain and promote peace, pr...

Re: A Friendly Discussion of Catholicism

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches.... By which I am assuming they are referring to the Second Vatican Council and not the Council of Florence or the Fourth Lateran Council as expressed in my earlier post? The point I was trying to make is that you are quoting exclusively...

Re: Share Your Favorite Poem Here!

Lovely poems, Sapphire - thanks for sharing! :) I remember Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening very well, as that was one of the poems on the ABeka curriculum that I had to memorize in High School. Another was "Ozymandias", but I am choosing another poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley instea...

Re: Any runners out there?

There's a track and field park near my house, so I try to run at least 3-4 days a week. I honestly hate running more than any other form of exercise, but I also had to finally admit to myself that it's been the most effective for me in terms of weight management, fitness and overall feelings of ener...

Re: What Not to Watch

Aw man, why the hate for Life of Pi? :( I love that movie - even better in 3D ... Right? That was the movie that officially broke my cynicism of 3D technology. I've seen it several times since, but it hasn't ever been nearly as good as the time I first saw it on the big screen. The movie was made f...

Re: Raising Children in the Church

Yep, I think the argument can be made for any "non-optional" life obligation instilled at a young age, whether it is church, piano practice or otherwise. In my case it was Church, but YMMV. I don't really see a point in arguing the theological benefits of attending church because one eithe...
