Re: abortion bumper sticker
No need to freak, Guess Who!; church seemed absolutely dead set that rape victims can have done no wrong and not be responsible for anything, so I was just furthering the discussion in that aspect. :P Exactly, JJJJ. That's where I'd feel completely horrible and couldn't hold the victim responsible....

Re: abortion bumper sticker
Then, church, it seems like the argument is mostly one of semantics because, if holding someone responsible does not effect the way you treat the person in the particular situation, then we are really discussing purely moral distinctions which, while interesting, don't really play into real-world sc...

Re: abortion bumper sticker
Humility, humility, humility. It's so hard but one thing I've learned repeatedly is that every single one of us is capable of making big mistakes. Being a Christian is not an insurance policy against making mistakes. There but for the Grace of God will go I, you, or any of us here. Who knows where w...

Re: abortion bumper sticker
If people don't want to chance a baby, they should've have sex. If they want to protect themselves and hope it works, that's their choice. They're still accountable for what happens next. Abortion has become an easy way out of responsibility for this immature 15 year old child who has stupidly give...

Re: College Advice
What Top said. For-profit colleges are usually a waste of money when compared with reasonably-priced technical schools or community colleges that will give you the same education without inflating the costs. Remember: college in America is a consumer product, and choosing a college is no different t...

Good luck Joanne! And remember, stay FAR FAR away as possible from student loans! Graduating debt free (or near debt free) is quite possibly one of the most useful things you can take away from college. ![Dancing \:D/](./images/smilies/eusa_dance.gif)

Re: Theist (but not a "Christian") Q & A!
Kait, you mentioned that you come from a Messianic background, is that what specifically leads you to believe in the Judeo-Christian God? Or is there another reason you prefer to embrace a monotheistic belief over another type (say, pantheism or similar?) Do you believe that God has any characterist...

Re: abortion bumper sticker
Kait, I was specifically pointing out the situation where babies with non-life threatening, manageable disabilities (e.g. Down's Syndrome) are aborted for no other reason than that they have that particular disorder. As you'll notice in my posts, I made no issues of life-threatening situations or em...

Were this topic a published novel, I'm afraid I would be at Barnes & Noble searching for the Cliff Notes.

My mission is to singlehandedly drag Casual Friday down to my standards, thereby reducing the need to change clothes before work on Friday. \:D/ I feel awkward wearing whatever is currently fashionable, so I usually wear whatever I want. I can't stand "flashy" looking clothes, i.e. sequins...

Re: Participation in Non-Christian Religious Ceremonies
Vic, I didn't try to claim they were doctrinally similar, so no worries. We can say the two religions are related by virtue of the fact that they originated in the same area and that the majority of Sikhs and Hindus reside in the same geographical region. ;) Darcie, good point. I know some people do...

Well, in the case of Hinduism (Sikhism is a variant) there are typically dozens of gods they pray to. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)

Re: Participation in Non-Christian Religious Ceremonies
To clarify, yes, I believe there are some religious ceremonies involved to some degree as well as just memorial activities and food. To give another example, I once went to a Bengali Puja, which is a sort of festival (food, dancing, etc) but it also has religious components, so people pray/do religi...
