Wait... Ashley is widely known as a boy name? I know it can be but I would think it's more a name that you would make fun of a boy for having...UK SKATER wrote:mines Ashley!!

Isn't there a guy named Ashley in Gone With the Wind? The one that Scarlett likes so much? I think it used to be more of a boy's name, and more recently has been used as a girl's name. I think of it as a girl's name, though.Brian wrote: Wait... Ashley is widely known as a boy name? I know it can be but I would think it's more a name that you would make fun of a boy for having...
I have two middle names - Marie and Sarah, after both grandmothers.
Mine is Puthenveetil. No, that's not a typo. Believe it or not I don't hate it. If I have children I would give them the same middle name becuase me, my cousin, and one of my uncles are the only ones left from my Grandfather's family that still carry the name, and we're a pretty big family... I meet relatives I've never seen before like every year...

Sorry, I worded that wrong. I was thinking of a Southern Belle....like (as dictionary.com puts it):mr.whit wrote:who is she
Main Entry: southern belle
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: a beautiful and charming woman from the southern US
It wasn't just one famous person. Sorry I confused you.
That is a most interesting middle name. What's its origin? and meaning?Elrohir wrote:Mine is Puthenveetil. No, that's not a typo. Believe it or not I don't hate it. My name is DeeAnn.
Bah, yes, it's one that you won't find the meaning of in any baby names dictionary (ok, that I know of...), because my parents sort of made it up. My Grandmother (mom's side) had the name AnnMarie, and my Grandmother on my father's side had the name Rita Dee (dee being her middle name... I think. ).
I really like it. I used to hate it, because it was so un heard of, but now I really like having a unique middle name.
And to whoever said "isn't belle french?" (I was seriously too lazy to scroll back and look ), I'd like to point out that many people in the south have adopted many of the French words, customs, etc. I'm still trying to figure out why, but I have noticed that a lot.
I don't want this to sound steriotype-ish, but I have noticed that many of the African American decent have started to use many French names as well. Such as Monique, Labelle, etc. It sounds like a steriotype, but it's not meant to be!

I thought that was because they were French.Sarah wrote:
