The rules are below. They are the almost identical to the ones that you’ll find the old games. A few edits have been for clarity and spelling. Please post any questions.
The last day to post your list of guesses is October 1st. The new season starts on October 2.Bennnet, LizzeG, among others wrote: If you are new to the game, please read the instructions to a truly fun Odyssey-related contest. For those who were involved in any previous seasons, the same rules apply.
RULES:
The last game’s (done during album 51’s airing) winning list looked like this:
- The point of the game is to guess how many times a certain character will make an appearance (how many episodes they were featured in)in the upcoming season, which consists of 12 episodes.
- For a character to be considered as an appearance, their voice must be exclusively recorded for that episode. It can't be one of those shows where they have flashbacks and paste their voice in, nor does it include anyone who introduces the show at the beginning, nor any commercials in the show, or any "Odyssey Scrapbook" moments. It must be the actual episode itself. Chris does not count as a character.
- A "Character" can only be listed if the person has appeared in at least one previous episode. So, if you have some inside info that Bart Rathbone's twin brother will be joining the show, you cannot guess him. The character must have appeared on the show before.
- Now, each member choosing to participate must make an official post on this topic (please don’t PM) announcing their choices. It cannot be changed at all throughout this season.

POINT SYSTEM:
You win according to the points earned for each character. Let's say if Whit appears in an upcoming episode (how can he not?) you'll automatically get 50 points, and if Eugene also is in that episode, you'll get 50...and so on and so forth, depending on the character. The only way you'll get the points is if you guessed that a character will appear AT LEAST that many times.
"So does that mean I can put down Whit will appear this season 100 times and still get the points? "
No.
For example, if we arrive at the end of the season, and Whit has only appeared 5 times, and you put down 6, you'll lose 100 points. The same goes if you guessed a character was going to make an appearance and they ended up not doing so. Last season, some of us said that Nick would show up during the season, and since he never did, we lost a 100 points. If I guessed Marvin was going to show up in two episodes, and he didn't show up at all, that would be 200 points already off. So, an appearance is worth 50 points, and an if you’re short an episode you lose 100 points.
2 appearances = 100 points; 1 wrong guess= 100 points. Get it?
You want to make as many points as possible; you want to be careful and guess just enough number of appearances, but not too many or else the points will deduct rapidly. Better to be safe than sorry. Make sure to consider how many times they've appeared in later seasons, or if they're be bound to finish a storyline started in previous season.
