I thought it would be interesting if I shard what I thought about each of these episodes. The rating refers to what I thought of the episde...
Lights Out at Whit's End
9/10
I loved this episode because it was the first Harley and it was never remade.
Gifts for Madge and Guy
10/10
Thi episode only has small portions of Harley and was never remade. However, I think there are some deleted scenes that were used for some airings that included Harley.
Promises, Promises
8/10
This episode orginally ahd two scenes with Harley. One with Harley showing kids "how to safely load a mouse trap" and the other is is a debate with Tom about chosing Ice Cream. The current cut of this episode is very short due to these massive cuts.
Doing Unto Others
6/10
This episode was remade as Isaac the Benevolent. It is exactly the same except for character switchs...
Harley > Eugene
Linda > Lucy
Johnny Bickle > Isaac Morton
Addictions Can Be Habit-Forming
7/10
This episode joins the club of those not remade. This is the only episode that I agree has a good reason to be pulled. It was very weak. Harley held up someone with a pickle.
The Tangled Web
10/10
This is the second Harley were he was thrown out. The orginal episode had Harley as the poilce man come over, and the remake had their neighbor Harry Snoopnagle com over before the poilice. This has one of the funniest episode scenes ever with Harley.
Bobby's Valentine
6/10
This one was remade as The Trouble with Girls. Differences include...
Amy Duran > Jessie Morales
Bobby Novak > Jimmy Barclay
Jeff (a) > Curt Stevens
Also an extra scene was added to the begining of the remake which adds George Barclay.
Missed It By That Much
8/10
Another remade episode:
Rachel Weaver > Robyn Jacobs
Frank Weaver > Dale Jacobs
Mrs. Weaver > Ann Jacobs
and Harley's "spots" were replaced by Jessie Morales, although she had completely different lines.
Recollections
10/10
This episode was never remade msot likely because it was such an important storyline episode. Hiwever, it shows lots of stupidity on Harley.
The Case of the Missing Train Car
9/10
Remade as What Happened to the Silver Streak?.
Harley > Curt
Tom Riley > Doreen Charles
Warren Summers > Traci Needlemeyer
Interesting to note that Tom was the one who took Michelle in in the orginal version. This episode also mentions agnes for the first time. Finally, the ending is changed from Whit apoligizing to Whit saying, "Hasn't your time here meant anything to you?"
The Quality of Mercy
7/10
Remade as An Act of Mercy.
Harley > O Ryan
Scott Williams >Rodney
Robbie Holt > Peter Holt (may be they're brothers )
Bill Williams > Bart
Ben > Jimmy
This episode has some great material that was taken out. My favorite is connie's exchange with whit about, "...Heard from Thelma Gardner..."
where connie lists lots of poepl who heard Harley's poilice car.
Gotcha!
10/10
This episode plot proved to be important later so the creation of the bible room was made into It Began with a Rabbit's Foot..., and the practical joke part into Pranks for the Memories. In it:
Philoio > Curt
Harley > O Ryan
Sylivia > Lucy
This episode orginal had O Ryan's joke abou the dog on top of the water. Harkey interrupts Chris on the rap up and tells her the punchline, "I see your dumb dog can't swim!"
Harley Takes the Case, Part 1 / Harley Takes the Case, Part 2
10/10
This episode has proved to be the hardest unreleased episode to find. It was remade as Missing Person:
Steve Larson > Rodney
Harley > O Ryan/Issac
Al Larson > Bart
Several cuts and changes were made from orginal to remake including changing the carnival to the state fair. Several interview scenes were cut, a scene were Harley an Steve are trapped in the barn and wild dogs com by.
Whit remarkes in this episode that thsi was Harley's last case in Odyssey and that they were standing in his driveway saying goodbye, but he would back to give a motorcycle ride to Steve Larson...
Rumor Has It
8/10
This is the only Harley episode I don't have, sadly . I do have the version were Harley was cut out in album three, but not the orginal, so I can't make any observations.
Peace on Earth
8/10
Harley only appears breifly at the end of this episode with an amfull if firewood for the Barclays.
The Return of Harley, Part 1 / The Return of Harley, Part 2
9/10
...Now Harley comes back to give Steve his motorcycle ride. He gives it to Jack Davis instead. This episode was remade as The Boy Who Cried 'Destructo!':
Harley > Harlow
Jack > Lawerence
I can't make any observations here either because I've heard "The Return of Harley" but not the remake.
The Adventure of the Adventure
7/10
This episode is an episode full of flashbacks and has the scene from "Recollections" where Tom and Harley visit Whit.
Spoofs
By Faith, Noah
9/10
The permit man says "Ignorance of the law is no excuse."
Curious, Isn't It?
10/10
Eugene talkes to Harley on the phone.
A Thanksgiving Carol
12/10
Stooge gets a visit from "Jacob Arley" which is so funny!!
