All Hail Our New President!

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

All Hail Our New President!

Post by Iron and Light »

Barack... Hussein... Obama!

Yayyyyyy! Way to go American people! You've elected a muslim hugging, gay marriage loving, baby killing, nearly socialist man with zero experience and an incompetent man as his partner to run your nation! And what, may I ask, was the reason you elected him? Oh, that's right- because he's an African American man! What a great reason to elect someone into office- everyone knows that the color of your skin makes you or breaks you and qualifies you to run a nation.

No offense intended to any of the African Americans here on this board, however it is true that 95% of all of the African American population voted for Barack. I've been watching the news for the greater part of the night, and in multiple interviews with African American voters, the voters simply said it was a momentous day.... because he is the first black president. What an awesome reason folks. Let's party! *breaks open keg of beer* And while we're at it, let's go kill some babies and throw out our concealed weapons, too .

Ok, one, it's established fact that he's not a muslim. So, can I assume you meant that he's not very anti-Islam? If so, how does this make him any different than Bush who consistently referred to Islam as a "religion of peace"?
gay marriage loving, baby killing,
Hm, can't really disagree there. But than again, that's true of most DFL politicians.
nearly socialist man
Joe the Plumber amuses me ;)
with zero experience and an incompetent man as his partner to run your nation!
Well, Obama doesn't have zero experience--just very little. And Joe Biden is far from imcompetent.
And what, may I ask, was the reason you elected him? Oh, that's right- because he's an African American man! What a great reason to elect someone into office- everyone knows that the color of your skin makes you or breaks you and qualifies you to run a nation.
And there, we agree on. If someone did vote for Obama for that reason, and that reason alone, that is.

But then again I'd think it would be foolish to say that every single person who voted for Obama voted for that one reason. Just as it's foolish for JED to stereotype those who voted against Obama as people who think he's the anti-Christ.

edit--

And for the record, I didn't vote for Obama and am not too happy about the fact that he won. But c'mon, people, lets keep our heads.

edit2--

No, I didn't mean he IS a muslim, although he DOES have direct ties to the religion. However, I never said 'Obama is a muslim' :p.

Yes, sickening, isn't it?
Joe the Plumber amuses me ;)
*laughs*
Well, Obama doesn't have zero experience--just very little. And Joe Biden is far from imcompetent.
Yes, that is what I meant. Exceedingly little experience- note my sarcasm . I said Joe Biden is incompetent because he had absolutely no answer for most of the questions in the vice president debate. Heck, he didn't even know what the duties of a VP were!
And there, we agree on. If someone did vote for Obama for that reason, and that reason alone, that is.
Yes, that is exactly what I meant- if someone voted for Obama because of the sole fact that he is African American, that is absolutely pathetic.
But then again I'd think it would be foolish to say that every single person who voted for Obama voted for that one reason. Just as it's foolish for JED to stereotype those who voted against Obama as people who think he's the anti-Christ.
I never said that, nor intended to say that. I'm not that ignorant. I know that everyone who voted for him did not do it SOLELY because of the color of his skin. Although, I know for fact that many of his votes came from fellow African Americans who simply wanted to see history made.

And no, I'm not losing my head. I'm simply depressed.... seeing what America has become.

For those of us who are Christians on this board, and I believe that's most of us, please act like Christians. After all, we are examples to the world. I don't know if any of you stuck around to watch McCain's concession speech. It consisted of gracious words from a gracious man. Let's be like him. And let's pray for our country. For those of you who are disappointed (I am, too), remember the words of 2 Corinthians 4:8. "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair." God bless America, and God have mercy.

Perhaps it would turn out slightly better if people seemed to realize that, much as in the 42 other presidential terms before it, having someone elected whose policies you disagree with is

say it with me now

not the apocalypse and end of all good in the world

...
Irritated, me? No way, that's just a silly idea.

And yet at some point...evil leaders do get into power...

Did some Americans elect one today? Who knows...

but there are a lot of evil leaders in the world. End of the world? No. Still awful, DUH.

Nice answer Sonuna... I totally agree.

Prove to me that Obama is the Antichrist.. just ONE person... oh, and you have to support your answers with biblical refrences, and then at least 3 proofs for each...

Can't do it?

Seriously, CHristian's voted for him tooo.. guess what? Salvation isn't the basis of which party you are in or who you (if could) voted for.

So.. I'm not totally sure why everyone is going crazy... (i agree with whoever said they are sick of this nonsence.. I was about an hour ago. ANd I've been watching this whole thing play out since I got home at 5...)

No, this is not the end of the world. No, Barack is not the anti-christ. No, all Christians will not spontaneously burst into flames because of his being president.

Am I annoyed? Yes. Am I disappointed at America? Yes. Honestly, McCain deserved to be president. He's an American veteran for crying out loud.

However, as amazing as it may sound, I'm not going to cry over it. And I'm not going to throw little temper tantrums about the injustice in the world. I simply used the ToO as an outlet to vent my frustration and be humorous.. in my own little sarcastic way I'm sure all of you love by now ;).

Although I am neither American nor of voting age, I kept up with the elections and I agree that McCain would have made a better president. I guess racisim bent back on itself this time.

Anyway, I don't think we all have to panic. We'll just have to rely on God in this situation. Just like I'm relying on God to help Stephen Harper cut the CBC's funding because he didn't get a majority government. :'(

And like Trent said, if it gets too bad, come to Canada! I'd love it if some ToO peeps moved to the Edmonton area! :D We have West Edmonton Mall... :lawyer:

Jugglah and Sonuna are being added to the 'thinking rationally' list I'm keeping ;)

Ok, I'm not really keeping a list, but I do agree with them.

Wow, DAM, you're pulling an argument out of thin air. The only person who brought up the anti-christ is JED, and he did so assuming that people voted against him because they thought he was.

That's ignorant.

The only other person besides you two who has said anything about it is me, and you'll notice I'm not calling him the anti-christ.
Seriously, CHristian's voted for him tooo.. guess what? Salvation isn't the basis of which party you are in or who you (if could) voted for.
I agree with you completely. And you'll notice that no one has claimed that salvation is dependent on such a thing.

Unless I missed something and then we will have another great example of Jonathan sticking his foot in him mouth \:D/
(i agree with whoever said they are sick of this nonsence
Yep, I was one of those.

I'm disappointed that McCain didn't win, but honestly, the most prevelant feeling in my person is relief, relief that the complete and utter nonsense called the "Presidential Campaign" is over ;)

Lawyer smilie ain't helping you.. I have a lawyer in the family, let alone the house right now...

The mall couldn't hold all of us (I meant the US. The water park could hold all us ToOers that are active). That would help... not.

And being in the US is a problem why? No one is explaining why this is a bad thing to be in the country that just elected the best possible choice for presedency? (Bush wasn't helping, McCain wasn't supporting himself well when he said things about and with Bush)
