(Oh, and if a mod could announcify this - perhaps even a global announcement - I would be very appreciative! )
The prizes are now TBA due to the money reset, but this game isn't contingent on 15 participants (since we're so close to the deadline and all).Bennett wrote:If you are new to the game, please read the instructions to a truly fun Odyssey-related contest. For those who were involved in last season, the same rules apply.
Again, Here's how the game works:
RULES:
1. The point of the game is to guess how many times a certain character will make an appearences (or, how many episodes they were featured in).
2. For a character to be considered as an appearence, their voice must be exclusively recorded for that episode. It can't be one of those shows where they have flashbacks and paste their voice in, nor does it include anyone who introduces the show at the beginning, nor any commercials in the show, or any "Odyssey Scrapbook" moments. It must be the actual episode itself.
3. Now, each member choosing to participate must make an official post on this topic announcing their choices. It cannot be changed at all throughout this season.
Now, last season's winning list looked like this:
Whit: 6
Eugene: 6
Connie: 4
Marvin Washington: 3
Tamika Washington: 2
Ed Washington: 1
Elaine Washington: 1
Grady: 2
Samantha McKay: 1
Mrs. McKay: 1
Leonard Meltzner: 2
Katrina: 1
Bart Rathbone: 1
Doris Rathbone: 1
Tom Riley: 1
Mandy: 1
Liz: 1
Wooten: 1
POINT SYSTEM:
You win according to the points earned for each character. Let's say if Whit appears in an upcoming episode (how can he not?) you'll automatically get 50 points, and if Eugene also is in that episode, you'll get 50...and so on and so forth, depending on the character. The only way you'll get the points is if you guessed that a character will appear AT LEAST that many times.
"So does that mean I can put down Whit will appear this season 100 times and still get the points?
No.
If we arrive at the end of the season, and Whit has only appeared 5 times, (remember, you put down 6) you'll lose 100 points. The same goes if you guessed a character was going to make an appearence and they ended up not doing so. Last season, some of us said that Nick would show up during the season, and since he never did, we lost a 100 points. If I guessed Marvin was going to show up in two episodes, and he didn't show up at all, that would be 200 points already off. So, an appearence is worth 50 points, and an if your short an episode you lose 100 points. 2 appearences; 100 points. 2 wrong guesses: 200. Get it?
You want to make as many points as possible; you want to be careful and guess just enough number of appearences, but not too many or else the points will deduct rapidly. Better to be safe than sorry. A good trick is to look at how many times they've appeared in later seasons, or if they're be bound to finish a storyline started in previous season (like, for example, Leonard Meltsner, Mandy, or ).
4. This game will only continue if I have at least 15 people participating. I will add in my own guesses myself later on.
5. A "Character" can only be listed if the person has appeared in at least one previous episode. So, if you have some inside info that Bart Rathbone's twin brother will be joining the show, you cannot guess him. The character must have appeared on the show before.
6. All the points will be totalled at the end of the season.
1st place winner: 6000$.
2nd place winner:3000$
3d place winner: 1000$
7. There is no fee to play the game. However, donations to keep the game going every season are more than appreciated (I had to raise 8000$ in one season last season...)
So, be lucky, take risks, and profit from the rewards. All you have to do is submit a simply little list. What have you got to lose?
THE BC
And, last but not least:
LAST DAY TO POST YOUR LIST OF GUESSES: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
Have fun!
