Something tells me that the action figure in that audience member's hand may be a clue that we're going to be seeing AIO action figures soon.
Or am I just hoping?

I don't know about action figures... Putting pictures of characters probably seemed like a big risk to the Odyssey team. I mean, I almost wish I didn't know what any characters looked like so that I could use my imagination. That's the problem these days. Most kids that are my age or younger have really boogered up their minds from playing video games... nothing against them in moderation. Lots of kids have absolutely no imagination! I hope I don't sound too anti-gaming, but I'm just not that interested in video games myself. As my alibi, see http://www.aiowiki.com/wiki/Tales_of_Moderation

Emo Eugene?
He looks like he's fifteen, especially with that black studded belt.
And what's with Whit's humongous head? This better not be Gary Locke artwork.

Is that what Eugene will look like from now on? And Connie? This is very disturbing. I have no humorous overtones or implications to hide. This is not good news to me.Trent DeWhite wrote:

Trent's right; Eugene looks emo.
Whit looks like he's about to sneeze and is vaguely reminiscent of .
+ Connie's still in green.

Yep, I love that 2-parter. I'd just never before heard those episodes called anything other than Passages I and II.Trent DeWhite wrote:I've heard the title before, but I can't remember from where. Maybe they got a new artist and he's strikingly good like Gary Locke was. Yet he hasn't quite figured out the Whit face that Gary Locke did. (haha)
Really, I hate the way Gary Locke is headed with Whit's features. I was slightly creeped out on his rendition of "Welcome Home." Does he look back at the other AIO covers he's done? What ever happened to consistency? That's what I'm sayin'...

I like the Passages artwork!
I'm liking Connie's new look, and Whit isn't bad... but Eugene does look rather young.
Though I'm a bit biased right now.

I love the Encore art--even if it does turn out to be a joke. The rendition of Eugene is awesome (finally a Eugene whose eyes are not completely covered by hair!). I also love that Eugene is the one with the most up-to-date technology next to Whit and his ancient tape player and Connie with her walkman, Eugene and his mp3 player are fabulous.
And...don't they already have Odyssey character dolls?

The AIO Encore cover is brilliant! I laughed so hard when I first saw it I was almost crying! I thought the joke was obvious, but some of you seem confused and upset by it. Since this is a collection of the best episodes of past decades, what better way to illustrate the cover than with our favourite characters wearing utterly out-of-date fashions that were all the rage when we first started listening? Younger listeners may find the cover odd, but this is a great inside joke to us old hands who remember the days of boomboxes.
I thought the three different eras of listening devices were hilarious too! It took me a minute to get it - I noticed Whit's boom box and thought it looked out of place, and then I looked again and realized the cleverness of the three of them together! Totally funny.
Whit's nose is incredibly large, however.
Mrs Jason Whittaker, there were AIO action figures/dolls/whatever a few years ago (I have the Connie one!) but that was a while ago, so I guess it is possible that they will re-emerge. I'm sure nobody sells those any more, after a few years.
