Who here can speak Latin? Let's discuss this.

I am of the opinion that no one can "speak Latin." It is a dead language, and even if you learn how to write it, it is basically impossible to speak it correctly/fluently.

Pig Latin being the exception. \:D/

Do you mean "Ita vere?" I'm only taking the class- I don't really speak it...

Latinam bene scribo, sed est difficila dicere.

I should know. I took Latin for 4 years, and Latin IV consisted of translating the Aeneid. Fun, fun.

I took it for 3 years in high school, though now I'm only able to read it, unless I have my Latin-English dictionary.
Who do I belong To? Not Earth, Not world, Not Evil, Not mortals, Not wretches, Not horrors

Who do I belong to? Unchanging. Unbreaking. Unfailing. Creator. Immortal. Eternal

:( Sadly, although I'd love to take Latin classes, our school does't offer the choice and I have too much to do anyway to take on classes outside of school... Hey, maybe you guys could give me classes! :D

I don't speak latin, but with my basic knowledge of spanish and english etymology I can read almost everything on this thread. That's how I was able to vote for I do not speak latin. I'm pretty sure that's what I voted for.

That means, "Latin is hard to write, but easy to speak", right?

So, can anyone translate the song "Pulchra Nympha Tu"? I figured out some of it, but I can't get it all. Any takers? \:D/
So you lost your trust,
And you never should have.
No, you never should have.
But don't break your back
If you ever see this,
But don't answer that.
In a bullet proof vest
With the windows all closed,
I'll be doing my best
I'll see you soon.

Well, yeah, except the other way around. It says, "I write (scribo) Latin (Latinam) well (bene), but (sed) it is (est) difficult (difficila) to speak (dicere).
