I've known about this for a while and the US isn't the only country that's switching to digital TV. Every country at some point will be switched to digital TV.

95% of my DVD collection are British films and TV shows and I pick up accents pretty quickly. That and about the same percentage of my book collection is British. So I can pull off a convincing accent.
