Re: The Ties that Bind
I'm going to be "that person" and respectfully disagree with you on some points, though there were some with which I agreed wholeheartedly. (For the record, I spent the better part of an hour on this because Notability was slower than molasses in January typing this thing out, so my replie...

Re: The Ties that Bind
Using vague terms such as "tolerance" fogs up the moral of the story, making it only accessible to kids outside of your target age range. An important statement, considering the pains they've taken to alienate older fans in the last two years or so. -nods vigorously- I understand better w...

I think Christian is saying that the concept sounds nice in theory, but sounding nice and being theologically consistent are two different things.

Re: The Ties that Bind
Now that I think about it, I wonder if this storyline wouldn't have been more compelling if there had actually been a character—one whom we know and love, not someone introduced solely for this purpose—who struggles with homosexual attraction. The writers would have been forced to confront the issue...

Re: Question about The Ties that Bind...
I'm not talking about whether or not the spoiler itself is huge; I'm talking about the fact that most of Album 57 has no bearing on Album 58, and the spoiler for 57 that is relevant isn't even that relevant to the plot of 58.

Calling All Tropers
As some of you may be aware, the website TV Tropes is a wiki-esque website that catalogues various devices (or "tropes", hence the name) used to tell a story or to flesh out characters. Pages for works begin with a short description of the work followed by a list of tropes that apply to it...

It's really nothing too heavy; the only spoilers you need to go in knowing are from "Life Expectancy".

^Are those headcanons Album 29? Because they've just been signed, sealed, and committed. \:D/ Liz and Connie are Odyssey's resident selfie-takers. Connie's got the better Instagram filters, but Liz definitely has the more killer duckface. Mandy and Penny don't even need to take selfies because of ho...

Re: Jack Chick?
The problem with Chick Tracts (since that's really the question you're asking) is that they present an incredibly fundamentalist viewpoint of Christianity that treats unbelievers as either imbecilic sheep who can be easily converted or as evil dunderheads who try to beat up Christians all the time a...

Re: The Ties that Bind
I Think the whole topic is a bit beyond the target audience Dreamworks and Focus Pictures, both of which released animated films marketed for children around the AIO target age, don't seem to agree, considering that How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Paranorman both have openly gay characters (though G...

Re: The Whit's End Podcast Is Going To Interview Paul McCusker
What kinds of Buck-related subplots can we expect to see in the future? And has he become a Christian, or is he on the way there? Album 58 didn't really clarify one way or the other. Is there anything that he can tell us about what's coming in Album 59? Will it be another theme album, or will it be ...

Re: The Whit's End Podcast Is Going To Interview Paul McCusker
On a less serious note, I noticed some similarities between the Vigilantors and the online hacktivist group Anonymous in terms of the national infamy, ruthlessness, and activism for social justice causes. Was there an inspiration there, or something similar? Or was it more along the lines of "T...

Re: Legalist Q & A
Neither, to my knowledge, is "Trinity", yet it is a concept accepted by Christian churches no matter their sect. The exact words of a particular doctrine do not have to be explicitly spelled out in the Bible in order to make the doctrine true. Besides, you just stated that you don't believ...
